Sake

Sake is a Japanese alcoholic beverage, but not everyone knows that it is made from rice. Unlike true wine, in which alcohol is produced by fermenting the sugar naturally present in fruit, sake is made through a brewing process more like that of beer. Sake holds an important place in Japanese history and ritual. According to tradition and Japanese etiquette, one should not pour one's own sake. Its’ production dates back to the 3rd century AD.
